CHACE CRAWFORD is so determined to fill KEVIN BACON's dancing shoes in the upcoming remake of FOOTLOOSE, he's already started training.The Gossip Girl star has been handed the iconic role of Ren McCormack in a new version of the 1984 movie classic, and begins shooting next year (10). And Crawford is so eager to prove himself as a dancer he's enlisted a teacher to show him the right moves. He tells Britain's Glamour magazine, "We don't start shooting until March, but I started getting into some training. I'm going to need the whole nine months to really get to where I need to be. "I have some movement and I'm really happy to learn a lot of new stuff, but I'm counting on the magical editing to make me look really good! But they put me through a screen test, which was pretty rigorous, so I must have the foundation for it."

CHACE CRAWFORD has been receiving some helpful hints to prepare for his upcoming role in FOOTLOOSE - from the 1984 movie's original star KEVIN BACON. Chace Crawford is currently brushing up on his fancy footwork to take over the Hollywood star's iconic part as Ren McCormack - and Kevin Bacon's actress wife Kyra Sedgwick admits the original Ren approves of his casting - and so does the couple's teenage daughter Sosie.   And she reveals the two actors have already met to chat about the role.   Kyra Sedgwick tells People.com, "We're thrilled (with Crawford's casting). Sosie is a big fan. We met him at the White House Correspondent's Dinner. Kevin and he had a chat. He's very sweet."   But she warns Chace Crawford not to be complacent about the role, adding, "He has big shoes to fill!"

High School Musical star ZAC EFRON pulled out of the movie remake of FOOTLOOSE because he wants to take his career into the "unknown". The 21-year old actor was slated to take on the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in a contemporary remake of the 1984 original, but pulled out of the movie musical last month (Mar09).   He's since lined up a starring role in a cryptic new drama called The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud - about a caretaker at a cemetery who has weekly meetings with the ghost of his deceased younger brother.   And Efron has now revealed the reason behind his decision to withdraw from the song and dance revival.   He tells Entertainment Weekly, "I'm sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge, but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That's what's always going to appeal to me: the unknown."
