British rockers COLDPLAY have canceled a concert in Tampa, Florida due to unspecified "medical reasons".The band was due to play at the city's Ford Amphitheater on Sunday (09Aug09), but they have pulled out of the show citing illness for the cancellation. The Yellow hitmakers will reschedule the performance, but a new date has yet to be set. In an official statement on their website, the group's representatives write, "We're sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone their show at the Ford Amphitheater in Tampa on Sunday, August 9th. This is due to medical reasons. "The show is currently being rescheduled - we'll give you the new details as soon as we have them. In the meantime, the band have asked us to apologies on their behalf for the inconvenience this causes." No further details about the band's condition was known as WENN went to press.

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN has dismissed a plagiarism lawsuit the band is battling - insisting it drives him to write even better songs. The rockers are being sued by guitarist Joe Satriani who claims his song If I Could Fly inspired their hit Viva La Vida.   But Chris Martin is refusing to take the attack lying down.   He writes on the band's website, "Some people are suing us at the moment and although it was initially a bit depressing, now it's become really inspiring.   "You think, 'Right, if everyone's trying to take away our best song, then we'd better write 25 better ones.' And so just at the point where I was thinking about getting fat and becoming complacent, I've been finding more inspiration. Now we've got more to prove than ever before."   Satriani isn't the only musician claiming Viva La Vida is a rip-off - Yusuf Islam alleges the track borrows elements from his 1973 song  Foreigner Suite.
