On her true fashion sense
“I don’t usually dress like I do in photo shoots because I just don’t have the energy to get up and put it all together. My mom doesn’t worry that I’ll wear things that are too crazy. Still, I love clothes and talking about boys so I have to admit I’m a girly-girl. I like Banana Republic and I love Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters.”
Loving a good read
“I’m a hopeless romantic when it comes to books. I love cheesy, romantic books because it’s stuff that probably will never happen, but it’s cute. I like Dear John by Nicholas Sparks — it’s very sweet.”
On her best friend Demi Lovato
“Demi and I are constantly surrounded by adults. On tour and on our shows we are forced to be mature. So when we get together we’re able to be 16. We have sleepovers and talk about boys and fashion and do each other’s hair and makeup and all that stuff. It’s hard to make time for that so we feel lucky when we do it.”
On her other best friend — her mom
“My mom and I disagree sometimes and we’ll fight or argue or she’ll call me out on things she doesn’t like. But she’s my best friend. I kind of make sure my mom knows every song I know, but she’s got really good music taste, too. I grew up listening to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Beatles and Rolling Stones.”
Dealing with boyfriend drama in the tabloids
“I used to worry about it, but I decided that it’s wrong not to go out to eat with friends or to the movies, because people might see me. It’s exhausting to shield yourself all the time. Still, it seems that boyfriends are all people care about when they write about me.”
